A Little Copic Love

Hi All!  Well, it's been a bit since I've been able to post and to say that I've been busy would be somewhat of an understatement :)  But one big, and thankfully successful, baby shower done and all I can say is Whew!  It's so much fun to help take part in something so special but it can definitely take a lot of time too.  So when that was done I thought I deserved some time to sit and color and couldn't wait to play with my Copics and my new Saturated Canary image called Copica.  I have to say one of the reasons I love Krista's images so much is that they are just so much fun to color!  I've been trying to really push my coloring to the next level so I tried giving the image more facial features like a defined nose, it's a little hard to see in the photo's but I'm actually pretty happy with how it turned out- you'll have to let me know what you think- should I keep trying?  I paired my image with some bright and fun design paper and cardstock border stickers from Little Yellow Bicycle...I liked the stickers because they kind of look like washi tape.  I went for bright and pretty and as a bonus got to use a cute little crochet flower that a coworker made for me (since you definitely won't see me adding that to my craft repertoire any time soon, lol).  Anyways, I hope you all are having a great week so far and that you enjoy my little piece of sunny Copic love!

Undeniably You

Hi All!  Remember when I said that you'd see more Saturated Canary images coming soon?  Well I didn't want to be a liar so I figured I'd better get on that asap :)  When I saw this image called Pink Punkette in Krista's Etsy store I knew I just had to have her and I wanted to make her the pretty side of punk so I did something different with her hair and have to say I LOVE it!  If I could get away with this at work I would soooo die my hair like this.  She was a blast to color with my Copics as are all of the Saturated Canary images :)  I used the new sketch from Sketch Saturday and then just embellished it with some bling and flowers- always a staple for me :)  I used another fabric tag from my stash- I got these years ago and for the life of me can't remember where at.  In fact I've just been holding onto them waiting for the perfect opportunities to use them...they're one of those things that you don't want to waste on a card that's just 'not that good'.  I'm keeping an eye out for anything similar and promise to share where if I come across them again so as not to hoard them all to myself :)  Hope you like my card and thanks for stopping by!

Just For You

Hi All!  Its time for another preview of the new Lil Party Pinkette release from Tickled Pink Stamps and today I've got one of my favorites, Pippa, to share with you :)  One of the reasons I love Pippa so much is because she is soooo much fun to color and this release does not disappoint I promise you!  I paired her with some papers from Echo Park called Victorian Garden because they are so fun and bright which seems to fit a birthday image so well.  I have to admit my mojo must have gone MIA on this one because I still feel like it's missing something...but for the life of me I couldn't quite figure out what it was.  So I like it but it still feels a little plain to me...it's a good thing that my image is so stinkin' cute because hopefully your eye will just get drawn to her :)  I want to give a quick Happy Birthday to Tickled Pink Stamps for turning 2!  How exciting is that?!?  Make sure you hop on over to the blog so you can see the other adorable projects by the DT and don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win this little cutie for yourself!

J'Adore Birthday Girl

Hi All!  I hope everyone is having a great week :)  Mine's been busy as usual but October is always a great month at work- it's so fun to see pink pop up all over and the support that's given to Breast Cancer Awareness.  Now I know it probably seems like there was just a release at Tickled Pink but that was the super special pink ribbon release so I'm here to help share the new full Pinkette release for October and I'm sure you are going to love these Lil Party Pinkettes!  I love party images because they can be used for so many different kinds of cards and I make a TON of birthday cards so I love anything that works for those :)  Today I get to show off Lil Party Pinkette Coraline- she looks so cute in her pretty party dress which was soooo much fun to color with my Copics.  I used some more papers from the MME Lost & Found 2 Blush set and went the soft and pretty route after finding the paper with the Eiffel Tower on it which seems to suit Coraline perfectly.  I hope you find yourself loving Lil Party Pinkette Coraline as much as I do and don't forget to stop on over at the Tickled Pink Stamps blog for a glimpse of the other jaw dropping creations by my fellow DT girlies and a chance to win this little cutie for yourself!

Charity's Hope

Hi All!  I'm back with the second image from the special Pink Ribbon Day release over at Tickled Pink Stamps!  I'm pleased to be showing off sweet little Charity today :)  I just love her curly hair and that gorgeous ribbon she's holding high.  When I was working through what kind of layout I was going to have for this card I was thinking that I was going to use different sizes of the same die with my papers- only once I sent the paper thru my Big Shot things just weren't looking the way I'd been imaging so I was kinda just sitting there glancing around my desk for some inspiration and saw the 'negative space' leftover paper from using the die and the imaginary light bulb that you see in cartoons went on over my head- and trust me this really doesn't happen all that often and even when it does it tends to be a low voltage bulb so I figured I'd better roll with it while it was shining relatively brightly :)  Anyway, it looked kinda like a frame so that's actually how I used it- as a frame or border for the card.  I quite like the effect so I'm going to try and keep that in mind the next time I'm struggling for a layout.  I didn't embellish too much because I loved Charity as a little bit bigger of an image so she fit perfectly center stage on the card.  Now trust me when I say that you're most definitely going to want to hop on over to the Tickled Pink Stamps blog if you haven't already been and get a good look at the other amazing projects that the rest of the girls have come up with- they truly are inspiring :)

Think Pink

Hi All!  I'm so excited to share something very special going on over at Tickled Pink Stamps this month...owner Kellie, who's located in Australia, is having an amazing special release of some very inspiring images for Pink Ribbon Day which is the equivalent of Breast Cancer Awareness month in the States.  Today I'd like to introduce you to Hope...but first something I don't think I've shared yet on my blog is a little about what I actually do for my day job and it makes this release extra special...I hope you don't mind if a take a minute (or two) to explain.  For the last 7 years I've been working in the Breast Care Services department at the largest local hospital in my state.  We do everything from routine screening mammograms to biopsy's, cancer diagnosis and both pre and post breast surgery procedures.  In addition we have a large mobile mammography program that travels throughout the state, and even some bordering states, rural areas to be able to bring our services directly to the patients in these sometimes under served areas.

To say it's a rewarding but sometimes difficult job, even on the clerical side as I am, seems like an understatement.  I've seen women who've been proudly getting their routine mammograms for more years than I've been alive and who continue to come every year religiously.  I've seen nervous and scared first timers who don't know yet how to separate the internet jokes from the reality of what getting a mammogram actually is and feels like.  I've watched supportive families and friends come in with their mothers/wives/sisters/daughters as they have a biopsy done.  And I've also witnessed loving family and friends accompany some of those same scared woman as they come in for surgery after having been told they have the 'C' word.  But one of the best things about my job is that if you do it long enough you also get to see some of those same scared woman triumphantly celebrate each little milestone along the road to being cancer free.  And to be able to lend support, give a giggle or just do my best to help in any way possible with all these situations or experiences is a blessing :)

So the fact that these images bring awareness to something that touches my life daily in so many ways is very exciting for me!  They will be on sale for the whole month of October, starting on the 4th,  and all of the proceeds will go straight to supporting Pink Ribbon Day.  Now how about you finally get to see this card of mine eh?  Tickled Pink Stamps happens to be sponsoring Sketch Saturday this week so I've used their sketch so I can play along- I sure hope you'll join me!  And don't forget to stop by the Tickled Pink Stamps blog to see some other amazing work from my fellow DT members and some very talented guests :)
